My family is a dog loving family. Every part of my life is highlighted with man’s best friend being by my side. I love that fact that my parents were never shy about having a dog and treated them as their own kids. We never put the dogs second. People have told me that once I have a “human child” I will put Dexter into second place, but I was raised where your dog is your child too and needs you just as much as your human kid. Yes, their needs are different, but Jarret and I are the only parents Dexter knows and he doesn’t deserve to be second banana, he’s been so good to us! {Don’t want Dex to have any resentment towards a kid} Since my parents raised my brother and I with a strong love for dogs it was surprising when my brother called us up a couple of years ago that he rescued a cat.
A cat? What do you want with a cat? They’re cute and so on, but they don’t play or give love like a dog does… unless you’ve grown up with dogs and that is the only way you know how to raise a cat. My brother’s cat, Shin, sits on command for a treat, allows you to pet him, pick him up, chase a toy, and best of all…. goes for a walk on a leash. Shin will beg to go out by hitting his leash over and over. It’s pretty hilarious, especially when he stops to jump on a tree!
